I'm Tammy Sutton, LCSW-QS, who is deeply committed to providing a secure environment to accompany you on your path to wholeness. As an EMDR Certified therapist and also a Registered Play Therapist, ™ I have been trained and incorporate as needed Sand Tray, Play Therapy, Ego states/parts work, IFS-Informed & EMDR, Trauma Focused-CBT, and TBRI. My expertise extends to advanced EMDR trainings for complex trauma, working with children and adults. I specialize in anxiety disorders and trauma/PTSD for individuals ages 4 and older. I've written two children's books, "Daughter of the King" and "Courage to Tell," which assist parents in educating and empowering their children against child sexual abuse. I find fulfillment in working with clients both one-on-one and in group settings. Remember, it's never too late to start therapy. Adults who have endured past trauma don't need to remain trapped by their former pain, fear, guilt, loneliness, or shame, nor by the intrusive thoughts and memories. I am hopeful that you can live a life of freedom, and I would be honored to support you in addressing and processing your past trauma, enabling you to concentrate on your current and future aspirations.
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, EMDR is a brain+ body based therapy that helps reprocess overwhelming experiences without talking about the details of the trauma. Often, trauma leaves us with distressing feelings, thoughts, sensations, and memories that keep us stuck and show up in our daily lives.
EMDR therapy has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR helps us process negative feelings and change the way we think about ourselves and our memories.
EMDR uses Bilateral Stimulation to engage both sides of the brain to desensitize and reprocess traumatic and distressing memories.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, the client does not need to discuss the traumatic event in detail. The client will identify an image or memory, negative belief, emotions, and body sensations related to the event while following bilateral eye movements, sound or tapping.
